Our Commitment to Neurology

Diseases that affect the central and peripheral nervous systems can be the most devastating. While they can also be the most challenging to create effective treatments for, ONO is working hard to discover and develop medicines across a range of neurological conditions.

Our Commitment to Neurology

Our Approach to Neurology Research

ONO researchers are prioritizing examination into the biology of glial cells, which maintain the environment necessary for the survival and function of neurons. We are committed to research that has the potential to bring patients disease-modifying therapies as well as symptomatic treatments for neurological conditions and chronic pain. Our partnerships with biopharmaceutical companies and academic institutions are helping us get closer to addressing critical unmet needs in neurology.

Neurology Pipeline Highlights

S1P5 receptor agonist

S1P5 receptor agonist

In the U.S., ONO is conducting a clinical trial to investigate a S1P5 receptor agonist for multiple system atrophy.

Enhancement of Schwann cell differentiation

Enhancement of Schwann cell differentiation

Outside the U.S., this investigational therapy is being investigated for diabetic polyneuropathy, a type of nerve damage that can occur as a complication of diabetes.

Epigenetic Regulation

Epigenetic Regulation

In the U.S., ONO is studying this potential therapy in neurodegenerative diseases.
